Looks like we finally have confirm on dates and venues - it just keeps getting more popular!.

Whether it’s the hills of Waiheke Island or Taumarunui, the alpine environment of Queenstown and National Park, the skills required for Upper Hutt, the true test of Taupo, a cruse around Jellie Park or the work out that is Tauranga Xtreme, get out and enjoy the 2010 NZDG Tour, we certainly make the most of some of New Zealand’s most beautiful locations.

There is something pleasing to the eye when a collection of deciduous trees readies for winter in a park bejewelled with lakes and vistas.  The leaves transform from their verdant normality to blazing showpieces duelling with the sunset.  And so McLaren Falls Park is a particularly pretty place to gather for an Autumnal disc golf tourney.

Located at the northern end of Poverty Bay, Gisborne is yet another of New Zealand's gem locations - for living, visiting and of course for disc golf!

This fact was proven with a great First Light tournament in August of 2010. Our intrepid reporter Bob G headed down early to provide some support to the locals in growing the sport there, to play the tournament, take some pics and to write a few words...

  • 03:00pm Casual [get to know the course] doubles.

Saturday September 12.

  • 09:00am Late registration
  • 09:30am Players meeting [Compulsory]
  • 09:45am Auckland Champs Round 1. [TD draw]
  • 12:15pm Lunch [Tournament provided]
  • 01:15pm Auckland Champs Round 2. [TD draw]
  • 03:45pm Play over for the day.

Sunday September 13.

  • 09:00am Players meeting [Compulsory]
  • 09:15am Auckland Champs Round 3 [Seeded]
  • 11:45am Lunch [Tournament provided]
  • 12:30pm Auckland Champs Super 6.
  • 01:30pm Congratulate winners and hand out trophies’

Tournament Fee; $30 and includes PDGA C Tier & NZDG levy’s, and insurance, a chance to hold the awesome trophies, prizes plus lunch and drinks both days and more.
Accommodation
The closest motels to Onepoto Domain would be the Northcote Motel (09 418 4803) at 128 Onewa Rd, [1km up the road]. Bush Glen Motel (09 480 8793) at 37 Waipa St. [4km up the road], or the Ocean Inn Motel (0800 820 822) at 27 Ocean View Rd. 2km from the course.

Fantastic, challenging course in Victoria Park in the Port Hills overlooking Christchurch, the Canterbury Planes, the snow capped Southern Alps and the Pacific Ocean.

Friday

  • The course will be setup and ready to play after 2pm.
  • 1 or 2 practice rounds.
  • Drinks and dinner somewhere in town.

Saturday

  • 9.00 am Players meeting at the war memorial (see the map)
  • 9.30 am tee off round 1 (Random Draw)
  • 12.30 pm lunch (provided)
  • 2.00 pm: tee off round 2 (Random Draw)
  • Social program in the evening

Sunday

  • 9.15 am players meeting at the war memorial

[Note that from 2009 NZDG will instigate an ‘A’ and ‘B tier’ system judged on the 2008 events. Also there is a chance your top 4 will be increased to your top 5 points that count.]

There will be a $10 charge to cover portaloo costs etc..
There will be plenty of water and drinks but BYO lunches.
If you didn't make the Match Play cut there will be play on the baskets for all who come along.
